Welcome!
This family history project began with my grandfather, Clarence Leigh Ferguson, whose curiosity about our family's past led him to spend countless hours researching our ancestors. I remember visiting his home and seeing the dining room table covered with papers, notes, family records, and research. He wrote letters to relatives, searched through local libraries and historical records, and even traveled to other states in his efforts to piece together the stories of those who came before us. His dedication created the foundation for what would eventually become a much larger family history project.
After my grandfather passed away, my mom, Peggy Bessler, continued the work he had started. His passion for family history had been passed down to her, and she carried that work forward with the same curiosity and determination. Over the years, she has been able to expand the family tree, uncover additional records, connect branches of the family, and preserve stories that might otherwise have been lost. And because technology has given us tools that my grandfather could never have imagined, we've been able to build upon the foundation he created and trace our family lines back several generations.
But genealogy is so much more than names and dates.
My mom has also collected family stories, photographs, newspaper articles, documents, and other pieces of our family history that help bring these people to life. These stories provide glimpses into the lives they lived - their journeys, families, challenges, accomplishments, and the communities they called home.
This website is an effort to bring all the research together in one place and to continue building upon the work of those who came before us. And possibly encourage future generations to continue the research!
Every family has a story. Ours is still being written.
